Rhonnie Vesco
Dave Spangler, long time team associate, has been a member of the prestigous 300 mph Club since 1985. He currently holds the C Gas Engine record @ 323.406 mph set last year. This year Dave has upgraded to a B engine and will pilot his fuel injected 406 ci small block Chevy to a speed of over 350 mph.

Rhonnie Vesco, of Vesco racing heritage, made her driving debut in 2008 at the World of Speed. She drove the updated, redesigned car that her grandfather, Johnny Vesco, built for the salt in 1957. After making her licensing runs, Rhonnie was able to achieve 233 mph. As a result she was thrilled to receive the Utah Salt Flat Racing Association's  "Fastest Woman" trophy. If all goes well, Rhonnie will again have an opportunity to upgrade her license to an AA license. She has 300 mph in her sights because, as she says, "speed is in my blood."

Speed Week preparations are underway!

Team Vesco has been busy preparing for its annual assault on the Salt August 14 - 20. The Legendary Vesco streamliner, "Little Giant 444," has undergone a ground up restoration and been outfitted with an Edelbrock Quick Data 2 Acquisition System which promises to provide invaluable performance feedback as well as an integrated Davis Technologies Traction Control System - the tire saver! Team Vesco's powerful 406 small block Chevy  has been freshened up and dynoed by Earl Snow of Snow Performance, St. George, Utah. This 'B' Class engine will run against current gasoline record of 331.178 mph and fuel record of 344.114 mph. Observers can expect to see a fresh coat of paint on the old girl as well, by House of Kolor and D & D Autoworks and Collision, St. George.

Can you say plumbing?
Gale Banks' foil heat shields helps control under body heat and protects vital oil & fuel lines as well as exterior body paint.
Equal length primary tube header make for a very challenging fit. Note: The modified throttle linkage - the very trick Engler compound llinkage - couldn't be used for body clearence reasons, sorry Tim.
The Liberty air shift 5-speed is heat shield protected, including the critical shift logic device or "brain" as most call it.
The flat plate around the Engler injector stacks seals against the cold air box and two outside air scoops. We gain some positive pressure at speed.
The eight Engler 2 5/8 throttle bodies sit on top of a common plenum chamber feeding air through the 6" long intake runners. The 4 lines leading to the cold air plate provide air the low port injector nozzles and prevents any fuel leakage onto the headers at high speed & shutdown..
Glen Barrett, "the voice of Speed Week," lends a hand and installs the new lower shaft to the quick change.

Earl Snow and Team Vesco crew member, Rick Kunze, prep the engine for another pull on the dyno.
Edlebrock and Rick Kunze were in communication to insure proper set up and functioning of the new system.

At 20% nitro the small block Chevy produced 883 hp on Earl Snow's Super flow dyno.
